Rayford F. Vick passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022 under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. He was born October 23, 1935 in Meigs, GA to the late John Allen and Louise Vick. His loving wife, Edwina, of 53 years preceded him in death March 28, 2007.
Ray was a graduate of Clearwater High School, and served in the Army National Guard as a young man. He then spent several years in the insurance business before opening his own company, Midway Construction, Inc. of Central Florida in 1969. The business and family moved from Pinellas to Citrus County in 1973. Ray was an active member of the community in Inverness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness. He served proudly for 42 plus years as a board member for SECO Energy in several capacities, including both President and Vice President. In addition to building many area residences, he was also actively involved in the Citrus County Builders Association, and entered many homes in the Citrus Parade of Homes. Additional affiliations included Inverness Rotary Club, Elks Club, Citrus County Code Enforcement and Licensing Board, as well as the local Hospice Construction Board. Ray was known as a people person. He was very social and loved talking with and meeting new people. Family time was important. He loved being Dad, and then later Papaw to all of his grands and great grandchildren. He was an avid FSU fan, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching old westerns on TV.
Survivors include, his four children David W. Vick (Robin), Cindy R. Howard (John), Elizabeth A. Skulkety (Mike), and Nancy E. Nelson (Rick); one brother, Lincoln John Vick; nine grandchildren:, Christopher, Erin, Amber, Brittany, Raymond, Rachel, Travis, Hali, and Regan; and six great grandchildren: Abigail, Emilia, Lydia, Lucas, Madison, and Winni.
A private family service was held at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. Burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, FL.
