Francis “Frank” Joseph Thurman, Jr., age 76, of Dunnellon, FL passed away suddenly at his home on December 9, 2021. Frank was born in Benton Harbor, MI on September 25, 1945 to the late Francis Joseph Thurman, Sr. and Virginia McLin Thurman. He moved to this area in 1993 from Orlando, FL. He was the owner and operator of a wholesale radiator business and of the Catholic Faith. He served our country in the U.S. Navy, and was a Corpsman during the Vietnam War. Frank loved being on the water, and also fishing. Cooking and enjoying meals with family and friends was a favorite pastime for him, and he also enjoyed traveling, reading, sports, history, and spending time with family. Frank was an avid University of Florida Gators football fan, and he also loved visiting and spending time with his three granddaughters.
He is survived by his daughter, Lara Thurman Ponchot and husband Jason of Dahlgren, VA and 3 grandchildren: Whitney, Elyse, and Taylor. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Thurman and a sister, Marie McCreedy.
A Life Celebration will be scheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 12:30 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Tim Cummings, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
