Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Larry W Black

On December 19th Larry “Wayne” Black received his heavenly wings. He entered this world on October 5, 1943, born to Lois Jenkins Black and Cyrus Black of Ft Pierce, Florida. Wayne was raised within the commercial fishing industry and as a result became an avid lover of the water and fishing. It was only natural that after graduation Wayne entered into the Coast Guard. During this time he made many memories that he later shared along his journey of life, such as guarding the Kennedy’s, learning to cook and knowing that if it was sitting still it needed to be painted battleship grey. After leaving the coast guard Wayne moved to Tampa for a brief time where he got his start in the petroleum industry. Just a short time later he planted his roots in Brooksville, Fl. In 1973. Still continuing in the petroleum industry, he eventually started his own business, Wayne’s Home Fuel which later became Hernando Oil Company. Wayne officially retired in 2003 to start enjoying a slow paced country life. Over his years he has helped raise many children, Chip and Joseph Palko, Kurt Foster, Robert Brooks and Tiffany Brooks-Hoblit. In 2008 Wayne took on a new title that he has held proudly ever since, the name Poppy to two special little girls, Madison Taylor Hoblit and Coral Lynn Brooks. Wayne is predeceased by his mother Lois and father Cyrus as well as three siblings Pat Ryan, Gloria Lee and John Black. He is survived by his life partner of 33 years Gail “Sparky” Brooks, brother Robert Black and sisters Janice Hazelief, Connie Davidson, Becky Carter, Mona Davis and step brother Carl Jones. Cremation with Care is under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
