George W. Carr, 85, Winter-resident of Inverness, FL passed away on December 1st, 2021 at his home with his loving wife, Rita, and son, Michael, by his side. He was born to the late George L. and Rose Mitchell Carr on March 13th, 1936 in Kingston, NH.
George is described as a man of many talents. He was a good man, husband, and father and loved his family dearly. He will be remembered as being the “Tractor Man” as his collection and love for tractors was known all around. In 1985, he built his own tractor barn which was able to house over 40 tractors. He was a well known Notary and worked as Justice of the Peace in New Hampshire and had the privilege in marrying many couples. He also dedicated his time to the Northwood Meadows State Park. When he was involved in the Lion’s Club, he assisted in the production of the Ice Races at Northwood Lake in 2003. In Northwood, New Hampshire, George had his own farm which had Hereford cows and one horse.
He and his wife of 47 years, Rita, made Oak Hill, FL on the East Cost their part-time winter home from 1997 to 2015 and in 2015, made Citrus County their part time home, when they would do their winter traveling from Northwood, New Hampshire.
Those left to cherish George’s memory, along with his beloved wife, Rita, are his children, George (Betty) Carr, Judith Poisson (Brian), Michael (April) Carr, Jeffrey Carr, and Debra Boisvert; his six brothers, Dan, John, Bernard, Nathan, Jim, and Winslow; his 2 sisters, Candy Tanguay and Kathleen Fortier; and seven cherished grandchildren and 11 adored great-grandchildren. He was very proud of his family and will be missed by many.
A Private Celebration of Life for George is being held on Saturday, December 18th, 2021. At a later date, he will be laid to rest in Northwood, New Hampshire. Cremation with Care is under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
