Barbara Jean Lawton of Inverness, FL passed away peacefully on November 9, 2021 at the age of 75. She was being visited and comforted by family and friends at Citrus Health and Rehabilitation Center at the time of her passing.

She was born to the late Harold E. and Katherine (Boles) Lawton on September 25, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY.

Barbara was employed as an accountant at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ for over 20 years. In 2012 after retiring from the casino she made Inverness, FL her home. Once she was settled in, she decided to return to work and was employed at the CVS in Inverness for over 3 years. Barbara was also a volunteer election poll worker.

She had a terrific sense of humor and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports and was a huge fan of the New York Giants and the Florida State Seminoles. Barbara loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and was known to spoil her friends and family with many gifts. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and shopping.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold J. Lawton and sister-in law Maxine.

Those left to mourn Barbara’s passing include her niece, Kendra and her husband Obi; nephew, Wayne and his wife Jennifer; grandnephews: Sean, AJ and Jide; grandnieces: Kate and Adora; her dear friends: Donna and Mary Ann; and a great many friends and “adopted” nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.

Barbara was an animal lover and especially loved dogs including her puppies Domino, Coco, Pepper, Duchess and Bosco. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Citrus County Animal Shelter.
