Shawn A Hanlin

SHAWN ADAM HANLIN, 59, a much beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died Monday, June 21, 2021,with his family by his side in Inverness, Florida.

Shawn was born July 10, 1961, in Baltimore Maryland to Walter N. Hanlin Jr., and Ann Shirley Boni Hanlin. His father was self employed owning his own shoe repair business, Hanlin Shoe Repair, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for over 30 years. His mother was a Deli Manager for Winn Dixie in Ft. Lauderdale where she retired after 25 years. They moved to Inverness, Florida in 2010.

Shawn grew up in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, along with his large Irish/Italian family consisting of his parents, five brothers and three sisters, moving there in 1971. He attended New River Middle School and Stranahan High School. Shawn was a jack of all trades you could say. He held his General Contractor’s license for the past 20 years, and prior to that had done a plethora of jobs, including traveling sales, electrical contracting, glazier contracting, and the list goes on. He was very talented on many levels and was a quick study.

Shawn loved traveling and had seen most of the contiguous United States during his many journeys. He had a generous heart full of empathy and compassion for others and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He also loved animals and they loved him in return. Shawn never met a stranger. He had the best personality and charm galore. And you couldn’t miss those big baby blue eyes or resist them. But most of all, Shawn loved his beautiful Italian Mother, Ann. She was everything to him… along with her spaghetti and meat sauce of course, his favorite, which she would always fix for him every time he came home to visit.

Shawn is survived by his father, Walter N. Hanlin, jr., his sisters, Crystal Ann Hanlin Chasan, Dawn Lynn Hanlin Lalibertie, Anna Mae Hanlin, and one brother, Kelly John Hanlin of Ft.Lauderdale, Fla., along with a special mention to Maggie Auletta, Roger, and his many special nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Ann S. Boni Hanlin originally of Follansbee WVA, his brothers, Walter Norris Hanlin, III, Timothy J. Hanlin, and Stacy Lee Hanlin, all of Ft.Lauderdale, Fl.

A Memorial, and Celebration of Life afterwards, will be held on July 10, 2021, Shawn’s 60th birthday, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, at Lauderdale Memorial Gardens, wherein a special Niche will be interned at the Columbarium to memorialize him always. Shawn was immensely loved and will be sorely missed by all. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
