Sara A Kelly

It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the loss of Sara Ann Barker Kelly, who passed away on June 20, 2021 at the age of 88. Born in North Carolina to Edna and Charlie (CD) Barker, she graduated from Jasper High School in 1950 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University in 1954.

Sara was an educator and taught at Wildwood High School, Citrus High School, Edgewater High School, Malone High School, Lively Technical School, Leon High School, and Withlacoochee Vocational Technical School.

Music was dear to her, and she played the piano and organ and enjoyed singing in choirs. She especially loved butterflies, birds and angels. She was a 15-year volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness and had a deep, abiding faith in Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Sara dearly loved and was very proud of her family, who cared for her wonderfully.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Milton; son Charles (Clare); daughter Janice; grandchildren Harlan, Hayden and Bailey; sister Rebecca Houghton (Eric); brother James David Barker (Marsha); her extended Kelly family of brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews; and seven Barker nieces and nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Linda Peeples.
