Betty Louise Welte of Floral City, FL passed away at her home while under the care of Vitas Hospice and surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born to the late Otto and Emma (Helget) Sturm on October 2, 1927 in Springfield, MN. Betty had been married to her husband Russell W. Welte for 62 years at the time of his passing in 2010. She and Russell made Citrus County their home in 1995 after relocating from Blairsville, GA. Betty was a Catholic by faith and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. She worked for Sears for over 30 years and was a leading appliances sales associate. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard and baking, especially cookies.
Those left to mourn Betty’s passing include her son, David Welte and his wife Debbie of Lutz, FL; daughter, Mary Gullett and her husband Roger of Centerville, GA; grandchildren: Erin, Gerald Matthew, Shannon, Jason and Sara; great grandchildren: Kasen, Karson, Emma, Ryan, Brooke, Briar and Dalia; and daughter in law, Laurel Welte of Brooksville, FL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Tom Welte in 2016.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Claudius Mganga, Celebrant. Betty Lou will be laid to rest with her husband Russell at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Vitas Hospice, P.O. Box 1330, Lecanto, FL 34460. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory of Inverness, FL is assisting the family with arrangements.
