Gerald A Schloss

Gerald A. “Gerry” Schloss, 89, of Inverness, FL passed away on April 26, 2021 at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, FL. He was born to the late William and Helen (Hauptman) Schloss on April 19, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY and made Citrus County his home in 1996. He was a Computer Consultant for FMC Corporations for many years and bravely served our country as a member of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War.
Gerald will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and sailing with his wife. Together, they liked traveling in their motor home, visiting almost every state and Mexico. In his free time, Gerry was a voracious reader enjoying in particular fictions.
Along with his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Silverman. Those left to cherish his memory, including his wife of 48 years, Mercedes, are his three children, Jeffrey A. Schloss (Annette) of Stratton, New Hampshire, Gary H. Schloss (Kimberly) of Danbury, Connecticut, and Michele Sokolovic (Frank) of Washington Township, New Jersey; his sister, Stella Salkin; and his two grandchildren, Allison Beth Schloss and Frank Gerald Sokolovic.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2 PM at the Florida National Cemetery of Bushnell, FL. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 12:30 PM, at the funeral home. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
