Nancy L Patton

Nancilou Patton passed away at home on April 10, 2021. She was born June 25, 1930 in Dallas, PA to the late John and Lulu Anderson. She graduated from Dallas Township High School and Wharton School of Business. Nancilou spent her early years being a majorette in high school and with her horse, Gypsy, participated in barrel riding competitions. She then worked in a department store in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was a TV model for them for several years.

Nancilou moved to Florida in 1972. She purchased her 1972 XKE Jaguar convertible car and competed locally and nationally for 38 years. She sold her dream car and purchased a 1998 Jaguar convertible for competition again. She was a competitive golfer as a member of the Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas. Then as member in Florida with Cypress Run Country Club and now a member of Sugarmill Woods Country Club, where she still played golf.

After coming to Florida she worded as District Assistant to Congressman Richard Kelly in his local office and in Washington, DC. She then was employed at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, and was secretary to the Chief of Human Resources until her retirement. Not to be idle, she began showing white standard poodles in competition and now she has two rescue poodles, Lucy and Desi. They are from the producer of the Lucy and Desi movies, after he died, and now are playing in her yard. Nancilou lived on the water in New Port Richey, so she got interested in sailing and received her Captain license for charters and also had her own crew of ladies on her sailboat “Tenacious”.

Again, she couldn’t stay idle, so she purchased alpacas from Alpaca Magic and was taught how to show them. So she again, was competing in the ring, this time with her white alpaca. With all the years of travel and competition and on the go, she had her permit to carry and she was not to be reckoned with.

Never to be idle, this country girl also worked for 20 years with the team at Dudley’s Auction in Inverness.

Nancilou is survived by her husband, Winston A. Patton and sister in-law, Judy Anderson of PA; her three nieces: Brenda, Carolyn, Cindy; and her 7 great nieces and nephews.

Nancilou loved life. She never knew a stranger. She was a loving friendly and warm person. She will always be remembered for her “feisty spirit” and the love she so unselfishly shared with all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life service for Nancilou will be held on April 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM, from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory in Inverness, with Fr. Eugene Reuman of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Nancilou’s urn will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell , FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Southeastern Guide Dogs or local dog rescue organizations.
