Janet M Spivey

Janet Marie Spivey, 82, Hernando, FL passed away on April 5, 2021 at The Grove Health and Rehab of Hernando, FL. She was born to the late Earl M. and Evelyn V. (Pruett) Hicks on April 2, 1939 in Bluefield, West Virginia. She loved driving school buses, and did that for many years. She was multi talented, and picked up new arts very easily. She was a dedicated painter and would paint beautiful, realistic floral and landscape pieces on canvas. She also loved to sew and was very active in her church choir. As a young girl, she was also active in her high school’s choir and Drum and Bugle club, and will be remembered by her family as being a friendly, full of life, animal lover. She was also very devoted to her children throughout her adult life and even a supporter to children in her neighborhood – she always made sure that the children in her neighborhood had a ride to after school activities and sports, and always made the children of her neighborhood feel accepted, loved, and included.
Janet was preceded in death by her son, Earl Randall Spivey, who passed in October of 1983. Those left to cherish Janet’s memory are her husband of 61 ½ years, Earley Spivey; her children, Boyd M. Spivey (Vicki) of Webster, FL, Robert J. Spivey (Reba) of Inverness, FL, and Lisa Elmore (Matt) of Hernando, FL; her brother, Eric Randall Hicks (Barbara) of Radford, VA; Vicki Lynn Dalton of Narrows, VA; and her three grandchildren, Christopher Henderson, Amanda Spivey, and Charles Spivey.
A Celebration of Life will be held by her family at a later date. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
