George J. Putney, 70, of Inverness, FL passed away on April 3, 2021 at his home. He was born to the late George and Mary (Bragers) Putney on October 12, 1950 in Bronx, NY. He made Citrus County his home since 1976. He was a Senior Investigator for Adult Protective Services for many years. He proudly served his country in the army.
A stranger, never stayed one for long. He had a special way of connecting with people, which was abundantly evident in his personal and professional life. To know this man was to love him and to be in his presence was a gift. He had a way of making you feel seen and heard, just as you were. George loved without conditions. Just by being himself he created a space for you to be fully who you are. He was an inspiration to his family.
He found joy everywhere and never ceased to be amazed by the beauty of a sunset. He would watch and say “how could you not believe in something”. His faith in God was always strong. He persevered throughout his life, when many would have given up. He loved life and lived his to the fullest. He taught us that life is not waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain. And oh how he loved to dance. Now he can do so freely.
George was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Putney. Those left to keep the party going are his two brothers Eugene (Ann) and Robert (Fran, deceased); his sister Joan (Jim) Byrne; his nieces and nephews, Jacqueline, Pamela, Claudine, Eugene, Mary Rose, Jimmy and Bridget; and the countless hearts he has touched.
