Stanley C Vandergrift

Stanley Charles Vandergrift of Leesburg, FL passed away at his home while under the care of his loving family and Cornerstone Hospice on March 29, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born to the late Stanley Elmer and Louise (Taylor) Vandergrift on June 12, 1934 in Arlington, NJ. Stanley proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Prior to retirement, Stanley worked in Marketing and Sales for IBM. He was married to his loving wife Rose Marie (Gamble) Vandergrift for 60 years until her passing on February 6, 2020. Stanley and Rose Marie made Florida their home 20 years ago after relocating from Big Canoe, GA. He was a parishioner of St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, FL.

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Deborah Vandergrift, his granddaughter, Serena Vandergrift, and his son-in-law, Craig Louie Baxter of Northfield, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Vandergrift.

A Funeral Service for Stanley is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM from St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, FL and will be conducted by Father Sergious Gerken. Friends are invited to join the family in visitation and repose at the church beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Following cremation, Stanley will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with full military honors being rendered by Floral City VFW #7122 Honor Guard on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Stanley’s memory to: Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, MBC FOUND, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.

Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
