Gordon Lee Barz of Homosassa, FL passed away while under the loving care of his family and Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville on March 24, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born to the late Carl Herbert and Iloe Sylvia (Pepper) Barz in Hampton, IA on October 1, 1930. Gordon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he went on to own and operate M&M True Value Hardware Store in Steubenville, OH for 35 years. In 1952 he married Patricia (Hale) Barz with whom he shared 68 years of loving marriage until her passing on December 29, 2020. Gordon and Patricia made Citrus County their home in 2012 after relocating from Stratton, OH. They had enjoyed traveling together throughout the years and liked getting gathering with friends to socialize and play cards. Gordon absolutely loved to garden and work in his yard, even though his family admits he was never really very good at it, he enjoyed it nonetheless.
Those left to mourn Gordon’s passing include his sons: William L. Barz and his wife Skye of Homosassa, FL, Bruce A. Barz of Bradenton, FL; his 5 beloved grandchildren and his 5 cherished great-grandchildren and his special parrot pal, Chica. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawna J. Churchman on May 20, 2004.
Gordon will be laid to rest with his wife Patricia at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM with full military honors. The funeral procession will depart from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home at 10:15 AM. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
