Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

James E. Taylor

James Earl Taylor Sr., 85, of Floral City, FL passed away unexpectedly February 28, 2021 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. He was born in Mansfield, OH on December 22, 1935 to the late Harlon M. and Gladys (Crose) Taylor.

James was preceded in death by his brother Bob Taylor, two grandchildren; Derrick and Blake and his beautiful beloved wife and mother of five children; Carolyn (Jones) Taylor in 1983.
Blessed to find love again, he also mourned the loss of his 2nd wife and very loved stepmother;
Betty Jean Byers-Taylor.

James survived by his children Paula Holmes (Richard), Sheryl Hall, Susan Pence, James E. Taylor Jr (Christina) and Nancy Hue’ Taylor; also, brother; William Taylor, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and many nephew and nieces.

James arrived in this area over 25 years ago after he retired as a millwright in Mansfield, Ohio. He was known for being a hardworking man, dedicated to working from sunup to sundown. He had a gifted business sense, being a master of skilled trades; building homes, owning a car lot with exceptional mechanical and auto body talent. He definitely fit the profile for being a Jack-of-all-trades with a unique ability to teach, providing his children the tools necessary for independence. Always finding time for fun whether planning a trip in an RV or hitting the road on his motorcycle, the one consistent thing absolutely everyone knew him for was his energy and enthusiastic love for dancing. His signature move was to shake it down low (all the way to the floor) and back up with ease as he’d share a flirty grin and wink to those decades younger trying to keeping up with him. He also enjoyed singing and when the mood hit, him he wouldn’t hesitate to break out in song anywhere and at anytime. One of his favorites being Conway Twitty’s famous hit; ‘Hello Darling!’ Staying active and hard work is what kept him so young and strong but the most impressive memory of Jim’s journey was watching him choose to accept his disappointments and redirect his focus on enjoying every precious moment of life. A lesson he left behind for all of us.
