Vernon “Sonny” Johnson of Pasco County, FL passed away at the AdventHealth Center in Zephyrhills on February 24, 2021 at the age of 91. Sonny was born to the late Howard “Howdy” Vernon and Mildred Rebecca (Forbes) Johnson on January 1, 1930 in Canton, OH. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He lived in Orlando, FL for several years before moving to Texas for his career. Sonny went to work in Aeronautics and retired in 1999 as a Senior Engineer from Lockheed Martin in Austin, TX after 20 years of service. He returned to Florida after his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was an excellent bowler. Sonny was a naturally talented artist and very good at drawing and painting.
Those left to mourn Sonny’s passing include his daughters: Linda Lacaze and her husband James of Floral City, FL, Terry Carpenter and her husband Les of Duluth, MN; sons: Martin Johnson and his wife Sandy of Stark, FL, Jeffrey “Scott” Johnson of Houston, TX; and grandchildren: Anease Lacaze of Jacksonville, FL, Jeffrey Lacaze and his wife Patricia of Hudson, FL, Skyler Johnson of Eau Claire, WI and Kaylin Johnson also of Eau Claire, WI.
