Eugene “Gene” Larimer

Eugene “Gene” Larimer, 80, of Inverness, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital of Inverness on February 22, 2021. He was born to the late Larry and Evelyn (Nicels) Larimer on March 31, 1940 in Galesburg, Illinois. He was a Truck Driver for many years and moved to Citrus County with his beloved wife, Barbara, in 1983 from Illinois. Gene loved camping with his family, restoring golf carts and tractors with his son, David, and he thoroughly loved life.
He will be remembered for being a very hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors and riding on his golf cart, visiting with his neighbors, and spending time with his two puppy dogs, Bandit and Blaze, his beloved cat, BayBay, and his granddog, Zeus. He was a very humble and kind man who loved his family dearly, and his family very deeply loved him.
Those who are left to cherish Gene’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Barbara; his children, Don (Kelly) Larimer of Illinois, Diane Unzicker of Illinois, and David Larimer of Inverness; his four step-siblings, Kevin, Larry, Linda, and Lisa; his five cherished grandchildren, Dustin, Koree, Derek, Jason, and Ryan; and his 11 adored great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held on Wednesday March 31st, at 3:00P.M., at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL, with Pastor Terry Roberts, of Crossroad Baptist Church, officiating. A Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until the hour of service. Memorials in Eugene’s memory would be appreciated to Habitat for Humanity, 3703 E. Gulf to Lake Hwy., Inverness, FL 34453.
