Janice A Cook

Janice A. Cook, 78, of Crystal River, FL and formally of Beaver Dam, KY; passed away under the care of Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, FL on October 6, 2020. She was born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on January 6, 1942 to the late Ray and Ruth (Hoskins) James.

She worked as a real estate property manager for the majority of her life and in 2013, made Citrus County her home when she moved from Beaver Dam. She married her beloved late husband, Charles Thompson in January 2014. Charles passed the same year in September.

Janice will be remembered for her adoration and love for reading; she could never be found without a book in her hand, at times even reading through a whole book in less than a day. She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and connecting with her dear family and friends on Facebook.

Janice is also preceded in death by her brother, Sercie James, who passed in August of 2012 and her two sisters, Marilyn Thompson and Linda Fultz. Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Timothy Hale (Leticia) of Winter Haven, FL and Jeanie James (Geoff Pettigrew) of Polk City, FL; her four adored grandchildren; and her one cherished great-grandchild.

Private arrangements are scheduled for Janice with Cremation with Care, under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. Janice’s urn will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
