Samuel Ernest Cole, “Ernie”, of Beverly Hills passed away at Bayfront Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River, FL on August 19, 2020 at the age of 72. Ernie was born to the late James and Hazel (Bishop) Cole on August 17, 1948 in Greenville, SC. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Bell South Telephone for 32 years as a Electronics Technician. In 1992, Ernie married his wife Mary Dugan and together they shared 28 years of loving marriage. He and Mary came to Beverly Hills 10 years ago which served as their “home base” since they spent most of their time on the road traveling the United States and Mexico. Ernie’s favorite pastime was traveling and he was a member of the Citrus County SAMS travel club. He also enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, wood working and was an amateur Ham Radio operator. Ernie was extremely handy and liked working on electronics and could fix anything. His favorite sport was college basketball and he was a huge Tarheel Fan.

In addition to his wife Mary, those left to mourn Ernie’s passing include his daughter, Sheri Johnson and her husband David of Greenville, SC and their children Jacob and Gracie Johnson; son, Bryan Cole and his wife Leslie of Charleston, SC; brother, James Cole of Oregon.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 3:00 PM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, FL and will be conducted by family friend, Pastor Mike Chappell of Sycamore United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to join Ernie’s family in visitation beginning at 2:00 PM until the hour of service. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
