Havril Lyle Gabay of Citrus Springs, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on November 24, 2019 at the age of 88. Havril was born in Barrett Town, Jamaica to the late Clifford and Lucille (Anderson) Gabay on October 12, 1931. He was married to Madeline Gabay until her passing on May 14, 2017. Havril worked as a bus driver for the City of New York. After retirement, he and Madeline left New York in the late 1980’s to make Florida their home. They loved spending time and working in their home garden. The Citrus Chronicle would periodically run photos of their beautiful gardening work. Havril also enjoyed photography, and music. He was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall in Lecanto, FL. Havril greatly enjoyed the time he spent performing field work for his faith.
Those left to mourn Havril’s passing include his brother, Nerval Gabay; his sisters: Inez Gabay, Marie Rodney, Cynthia Gabay; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends and family members who were blessed to have known him.
A Memorial Service is being planned by Havril’s family and will take place at the Kingdom Hall in Lecanto, FL in January of 2020. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
