Donna A. Xenophon

Donna Ann Xenophon, age 54, of Inverness, passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. One of eight children, Donna was born on April 17, 1965 in Jamaica Queens, NY to the late Nicos and Edna (McBride) Xenophontos.

She made Citrus County her home in 1978 after relocating from Malverne, NY and attended worship services at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Lecanto. Donna was an extremely talented softball player and was a member of the Santa Fe College women’s softball team. She and her teammates made it all the way to the state championships. After college, Donna went to work as a Corrections Officer for the Sumter County Corrections Facility for over ten years. In her spare time she loved playing bingo. She also enjoyed spending time on the computer, playing jackpot games and a little gambling.

Those left to mourn Donna’s passing include her precious daughter, Laura Carley of Inverness; brother, Nic Xenophon (William Jayne) of Costa Rica; sisters: Debra Helm of Tallahassee, Rosemary (John) Maisel of Floral City, Gigi (Bob) Klein of Inverness, Laura Clark of Martin, GA, Patricia (Raymond) Velez of Birmingham, AL; nieces: Linda Helm, Donnamarie Whittle, Nicole Carpenter, Jesse Klein, Ashley Rose Dodd, Sarah Hall, Mariah Clark, Samantha Catland, Megan Sortino; nephews: Jon Xenophon, Colin Xenophon, Jimmy Helm, Paul Xenophon, Mark Xenophon, Shane Maisel; sister in law, Lori Xenophon; and the father of her child, Derek Carley, stepbrother, Peter Panayi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Chris Xenophon and stepmother, Maria (Efthathion).

The family plan to hold a private memorial service at a later date. Cremation care provided by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
