Shirley H. Swords, age 84, of Inverness, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 6, 2019. Shirley was born to the late Marvin James and Rachel Marie (Laughlin) Andrews on November 29, 1934 in Somers Point, NJ. She was married to David Swords for 32 years until his passing on June 11, 2018. Shirley and David made Florida their home 23 years ago after relocating from Michigan. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Michigan State Spartans. Shirley loved her schnauzer, Brady and adored her family. She was always one to care for and look out for the best interest of others.
Those left to mourn Shirley’s passing include her daughters: Karen Chambers and Delynn Rodriguez; brother, Russell Andrews; grandchildren: Zachary McGuigan and Jarid Richards; and great grandchild, Maddix McGuigan. In addition to her loving husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan and Peggy.
Shirley’s family plan to hold a memorial service for her in Lansing, MI, at a later date. Her urn will be laid to rest at the Delta Township Cemetery in Lansing, MI. Cremation care provided by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
