REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF JAMES R ASHMAN
It is with great sadness that on May 3, 2019 James Ray Ashman of Inverness Florida passed to the next life due to complications from surgery.
He was survived by his wife Sandra J Copenhaver, a daughter Christine L Ashman of Mishawaka Indiana, and a son James H Ashman and his husband Jamey Espina of Savannah Georgia. Also surviving are three grandchildren Chelsea Hay of Albuquerque New Mexico, Whitney Hay of Mishawaka Indiana, and Patty Phillips of South Bend Indiana. In addition, two great grandchildren Daniel Phillips and Naomi Willis of Mishawaka Indiana. Also surviving a surrogate daughter Amanda Wroblewski Brandenburg of Trinity Florida and her family Marc, Sam, Sarah and Paige. Extended family in Florida include Diane and Brian Poole of Seminole Florida, their children Nathan (Alecia) and Shauna (Chris) and grandchildren Vanessa, Iain, Raina, Halena, and Tily. Extended family in Georgia includes Denise and Jim Suddes of Alpharetta Georgia, their children Patrick (Rachel) (Lawson),Sean (Sophia) and Molly. Extended family in Indiana includes many, many relatives from Sandy’s side with the family names of Kil and Rafinski.
He was born in Chicago Illinois on August 21, 1939. His work took him to many different areas of the country. Finally he moved to Florida in 1985 and became director of purchasing in Pinellas County. After retiring he and Sandy moved from Tarpon Springs to Inverness Florida. He loved summers at their cabin in the Smoky Mountains in Clayton Georgia, and the warmth of sunny Florida winters. He loved his golden retriever Hank, they were best buddies. Mention has to be made of Harold the Siamese, Babe the Welshman Corgi, Abby the Bordernese, and Daniel the cockatiel. Among his many favorite places were Estero Island in Ft Myers Beach, Savannah, Edinburgh, Paris, Florence, and of all England.
Jim was a generous man who never forgot a birthday or a holiday, especially when it came to children. He was an avid music lover, especially of the songs of Frank Sinatra. He enjoyed dancing, movies, travel, and Corvettes. He was known for the ability to carry on a conversation about anything. A dapper Irishman who loved Notre Dame football, White Sox baseball, and he was a big animal lover. He was a loving man, a prince of a man, and especially a gentleman.
He has friends and family in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, Arizona, and Florida. JV and Donna, Bob, John and Mary, Dee, Tony, and Sal, and Ed and rest of the gang. He spoke of one or the other of you almost every day. There will be many celebrations of Jim’s life in the coming months.
He will be laid to rest at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City, Florida with only family present. Donations may be made in his honor to The Citrus County Animal Shelter.
