Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Blair M Roskow

Blair Martin Roskow of Hernando, Florida passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Blair was born on March 10, 1932 in Baltimore, MD to the late Joseph F. and Margaret (Pedrick) Roskow. He was 86.
Blair was an industrious lad, first working as a paper boy for the Philadelphia Bulletin, then becoming delivery branch manager. While in high school he was an usher at one of the local movie houses, then during the summer months he worked at the Jersey shores. One of his jobs was making waffles in the display window at an eatery on the boardwalk in Wildwood.
After completing school at Germantown High, Blair started working for Standard Pressed Steel (now SPS Technologies) in Jenkintown, PA. He started as a machine operator in the nut department, continuing his education at La Salle University while advancing to higher positions within the company. He retired after 43 years with the title of Manufacturing Manager in the Aerospace Fasteners Division. He was an expert in Hexamatic machinery and was called on to troubleshoot problems in Galway, Ireland; Puerto Rico and other SPS plants.
On his move to Florida in 2004 from Langhorne, PA, he fell and broke his hip which severely limited his physical activities. Always an avid reader, he then read 2 to 3 books a week. He read every book and saw all the movies from his favorite author, Tom Clancy. He loved to watch football on TV and recognized penalties before the referees blew their whistles. Blair was a lifelong die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan and was thrilled when the Eagles won the 2018 Super Bowl.
Blair fell in love with his wife, Johanna and her four daughters. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this past December. Blair was a loving father, had a never-ending sense of humor and was a great story teller.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna; his children Blair Roskow, Jr of Ft. Myers, Fl; his beloved daughter, Michaelyn Cannella (Dewey) of Manahawkin, NJ; Deborah F. Laughlin of Fernandina Beach, FL; Theresa M. Engle (John) of Boyertown, PA; Loraine M. Laughlin of Jacksonville, FL and Christina M. Laughlin of Lancaster, PA; his brother Lawrence Roskow (Fran) of Estero, FL.; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Blair was preceded in death by his beloved son, David on January 29, 2018.
As a child Blair was stricken with polio and was nursed back to health at the Shriners hospital in Philadelphia.
