Robert “Bob” E Cubberley

Robert “Bob” Edward Cubberley, age 93, of Inverness, FL passed away at his home on January 9, 2019. Bob was born on June 4, 1925 in Irvington, N.J. to the late Warren and Anna (Von Oesen) Cubberley. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was a Veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Sebec and the USS Calamus. He went on to own and operate the Colonial Cake Box Bakery in Sparta, NJ and the Country Barn Confectionery in Sandy Hook, CT. In addition to baking, he enjoyed gardening and watching his favorite baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays. He loved the United States flag and proudly displayed it wherever he was. Bob made Citrus Country Florida his home in 2007 after relocating from Queensbury, N.Y. and in 2015 made the Inverness Club Senior Apartments his home. He greatly enjoyed the activities offered there and socializing with the other residents.

Those left to mourn Bob’s passing include his sons: Robert Cubberley and his wife Lori of Glen Mills, PA; Ronald Cubberley of Lacey, WA; Douglas Cubberley and his wife Laurel of Norman, OK; daughters: Sue Nute and her husband Bob of Southbury, CT; Amy Rock and her husband Ron of Pine Ridge, FL; six grandchildren: Jason, Justin, Rob, Lauren, Sophia and Ronnie; five great grandchildren: Riley, Bentley, Logan, Grayson, Ronnie, with a sixth great grandchild due in April. Bob was preceded in death by his two wives, Mary Cubberley and Helen Cubberley; three brothers: Warren, Herb and Henry Cubberley; and his sister, Anne Cubberley.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness with Reverend Terry McKee officiating. Following the service, a procession will depart at 11:45 AM for Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL where Robert will be laid to rest with full military honors. Friends are invited to join the family in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
