Jon Maurice La Fontaine passed away on January 13, 2019, at the age of 75. He was born on December 4, 1943 in Watertown, N.Y. to Maurice and Kathryn La Fontaine.
Jon married Phyllis Embling September 9, 1967 at the First Methodist Church in North Chili, N.Y. Jon and Phyllis were proud and loving parents to their two sons, David and Stephen.
Jon proudly spent 45 years working in Fire and Safety Management at companies such as Eastman Kodak and the New York State Department of Transportation. Jon was also an active member of the volunteer fire department in Rochester, N.Y for 35 years.
In retirement, Jon and Phyllis enjoyed traveling the nation and later became Florida “Snowbirds”. In 2017 they moved to Inverness, where Jon enjoyed fixing up their new home, reading, baking, playing golf, and fishing with his family and friends. Jon was active in the church community, and was considered a much loved member. Jon will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend.
Left to honor and remember Jon are his wife Phyllis, his two sons: David La Fontaine and wife Miriam, Stephen La Fontaine; granddaughter, Katelyn La Fontaine; brother, Stephen (Karen) La Fontaine; sister Michele (Stephen) Babin; brother-in-law Ron Embling and his wife Judy; sister-in-law Janet Stewart and her husband Doug.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, January 18, 2019 at 12:00 PM from the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness with Pastor Ron Pfeifer officiating. Services were provided by Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.
Memorial donations in memory of Jon can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.
