June Laverne (Everett) Dimmitt, age 84, of Floral City, FL, and resident of Tarawood, passed away at her home on October 28, 2018. June was born on September 16, 1934 in Fort Gibson, OK to the late Sewell and Helen Elizabeth (Smithson) Everett.
She was married to Danny L. Dimmitt for 30 years until his passing on April 26, 2008. June was previously an Administrator for the Veteran’s Administration and retired after 30 years of service. She then went to work as the Billing Department Manager at the Dermatology Center in Inverness, FL with her daughter Virginia for 20 years. She made Citrus County her home 10 years ago after relocating from Seminole, FL.
A Christian by faith, she attended worship services at the Floral City Church of Christ and was formerly a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole, FL. June was very active in the church, particularly children’s ministries. She participated in her church-sponsored orphanage in Seminole, FL and the children there adored her. At the Floral City Church of Christ, she assisted with gathering backpacks, coats, Christmas presents and school supplies for children of the community.
June enjoyed going to the Senior Care Center in Inverness almost everyday where she could enjoy a meal and visit with her friends. She was a dog lover and previously owned a champion Westie, Chloe, which she showed in many dog shows over the years. June also enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities with her husband and family such as camping and fishing. She loved spending time with her family and playing card games. She is now in the presence of her savior and will be deeply missed.
Those left to mourn June’s passing include her children: Virginia Schekorra-Ballou, D.O. and her husband Robert of Floral City, FL, Diane Cook and her husband Kyle Cooper of Seminole, OK, Jerry “Jay” Cook and his wife Almira of Inverness, FL; brother, Frank F. Everett of Wagner, OK; stepson, Duane Dimmitt of Lebanon, MO; stepdaughter, Denise Bennett of Columbia, MO; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Danny, June was preceded in death by 3 brother, 2 sisters and 2 stepbrothers.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance has been scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home and will be conducted by Michael Shingledecker of the Floral City Church of Christ. Friends are invited to join June’s family in visitation beginning at 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
June will be laid to rest with her husband Danny at the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, MO. Services in Missouri will be under the direction of the Travis Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. Local Arrangements under direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
