James Milton May, Jr., age 77, of Inverness, FL, and formerly of Somerset, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on February 6, 1941 in Berlin, PA to the late Pauline (Schrock) and James May, Sr.
He graduated from Berlin High School in 1959. On June 17, 1962 he married Patricia L. (Maust) with whom he shared 56 years of loving marriage. Jim was a retired Manager for the Agway Lawn and Garden Center. He and his wife became Florida “Snow Birds” in 2009 and made Inverness, FL their permanent home in 2017 after relocating from Pennsylvania.
Jim was a member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren in Somerset, PA and attended the First Christian Church of Inverness. He enjoyed woodworking, lawn care, hunting and singing in the church choir. Jim loved riding his Goldwing Trike and was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Chapter T.
In addition to his loving wife Pat, those left to mourn Jim’s passing include his daughters: Yvonne L. Miller and her husband Rich of Hooversville, PA, Susan May of Inverness, FL; grandson, Ian J. Maldonado of Somerset, PA; sister in law, Patsy Maust; one nephew and several nieces. In addition to his parent’s, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis W. May. Jim’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care and kindness of Vitas Healthcare Hospice.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Somerset, PA on October 30th, 2018 where a celebration of life service will be held at 7 pm, Pastor Chris Forry officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Vitas Healthcare at P.O . Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
