James R. Muggleton, age 93, of Inverness, FL passed away at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Facility in Inverness on October 23, 2018. James was born on January 3, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Earl and Isabel (Fraser) Muggleton.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a Veteran of World War II. After his military service, James went on to work as a Pipe Fitter for the Hooker Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, N.Y. On May 29, 1945 he married Bernice (Wojtowicz) with whom he shared 69 years of marriage until her passing on October 18, 2014.
James and Bernice made Inverness, FL their home in 1994 after relocating from Ormond by the Sea, FL. In his spare time he enjoyed doing yard work but, he truly loved playing golf. James was a member of the Inverness Golf and Country Club where he was able to hit the links as much as possible.
Those left to mourn James’ passing include his sons: Kenneth Muggleton and his wife Nancy of Apollo Beach, FL, Daniel Muggleton of Springfield, MA, Mark Muggleton and his wife Collie of Longmont, CO; daughter, Donna Sawyer and her husband Wayne of Macedon, N.Y.; 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
James’ urn will be laid to rest alongside his loving wife Bernice at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:30 PM. Military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
