Leroy W. Loveland, Sr.

Leroy W. Loveland, Sr., age 93, of Homosassa, FL, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Leroy was born on September 24, 1924 to the late Leroy and Marie (Fleischlt) Loveland in Scranton, PA. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II.

After his military service, he went on to become a salesman for National Wine Company. He met the love of his life, Mary Louise Godfrey, on a blind date. They married on February 23, 1946, and shared 74 years of loving marriage together. Leroy and Mary spent several years traveling around the country in their R.V. They made Citrus County, FL their home in 1992 and were parishioners of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Crystal River, FL. In his spare time, Leroy enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife Mary, those left to mourn Leroy’s passing include his sons: Richard Loveland and his wife Marie Christine of Florida, Leroy Loveland, Jr. and his wife Eleanor of Florida, Kenneth Loveland and his wife Taria of Tennessee; brother, Fred Loveland of South Carolina; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leroy was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Bruce, Jimmy and Johnny Loveland.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service is planned for Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Crystal River and will be conducted by Reverend Joan Holden. A graveside service will follow at Florida National Cemetery with military honors being rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
