George M. Hendrickson

George M. Hendrickson

George M. Hendrickson, age 92, of Inverness, FL passed away August 1, 2018 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. George was born on April 1, 1926 in Amityville, N.Y. to the late George and Lila (Thomas) Hendrickson. Growing up in the great depression, he held a unique joy and satisfaction with the simplest things in life that few of us today could possibly understand.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. On August 17, 1946 he married Lena (Paini) with whom he shared 39 years of marriage until her passing on December 24, 1985. Roman Catholic by faith, he made Citrus County his home 27 years ago after relocating from New York and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. George was a brilliant man with a great sense of humor that was an avid reader and enjoyed stamp collecting. He also liked crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and traveling. George’s family will remember him as always being optimistic and handling whatever situation life threw at him. Life threw a lot of curveballs his way, and he would always find a way to pick himself up and live another day. He is going to be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Those left to mourn George’s passing include his son, George Hendrickson IV of Brooksville, FL; brother, Harold Hendrickson of Ocala, FL; daughter in law, Joan Hendrickson of Inverness, FL; grandchildren: Cliff (Pam) Hendrickson of Hernando, FL, Brian (Erin) Hendrickson of Inverness, FL; Jillian (Adam) Hendrickson of Orlando, FL, Angela (D.J.) Brandt of Pennsylvania; great grandchildren: Meagan, Trey, Sam, Maddie and Evelyn.
