Roland “Ron” Rautio, age 85, of Hernando, FL passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2018. Ron was born on September 23, 1932 in Ishpeming, MI to the late Arney and Martha (Korvela) Rautio.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and went on to work for the Ford Motor Company in the Parts and Inventory Control department. He made Citrus County, FL his home in 1989 after relocating from Michigan. After moving to Florida, Ron worked as a medical transcriber for over 20 years. On November 6, 2002 he married Helen (Thomas) with whom he shared over 15 years of marriage. Ron loved working in his yard and mowing the grass. He also enjoyed reading in his spare time.
In addition to his loving wife Helen, those left to mourn Ron’s passing include son, Roger L. Rautio of South Carolina; stepdaughter, Renee Wachtel of Maryville, TN; brother, Allan E. Rautio of Michigan; sister, Rhea Hopkins of Minnesota; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Milton Rautio in 1997.
Private cremation care is under direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
