Bobby Joe Bennett, age 85, of Inverness, FL, passed away at his home on June 29, 2018. Bobby was born on December 3, 1932 in Golden Pond, Trigg County, KY to the late William and Velma (Johnson) Bennett.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Bobby was married to his wife Emma Lou for 60 years until her passing on May 27, 2011. He owned and operated his own trucking business and made Florida his home in 1998 after relocating from Illinois. Bobby was a 33rd Degree Mason and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He also had a great love of dogs.
Those left to mourn Bobby’s passing include his daughters: Deborah Lewis of Inverness, FL and Donna Hildebrandt of St. Francisville, LA; his brothers: Larry Bennett of Kentucky and Billy Bennett of Florida; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Robert G. Bennett; brothers: Donald and Jerry Bennett; and sister, Barbie J. Bennett.
Bobby’s urn will be interred at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
