Mae L. Volk, age 78, of Inverness, FL passed away at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, on June 23, 2018. Mae was born on May 13, 1940 in Bronx, N.Y. to the late Robert and Ethel (Gellar) Levine.
She was married to Jack Volk for 30 years until his passing on August 6, 1997. Mae was Jewish by faith and a homemaker throughout her life. She made Inverness her home 1 year ago after relocating from South Florida. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading. Mae loved spending time with her family and especially her grandson. She was considered a mother by many and was known by everyone in her neighborhood as “mama”. Mae will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and mother in law and will be greatly missed.
Those left to mourn Mae’s passing include her sons: Ira Volk and his wife Robin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Robert Volk of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughters: Sharyn Volk and Lisa Buezo and her husband Javier of Inverness, FL; brother, Allan Levine of Sunrise, FL; sister, Diane Smith of Hot Springs, AR; and her dear grandson, Jacob.
A committal service will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Cantor, Mordecai Kamlot officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
