Mildred O. “Marty” Maynard, 97, of Lecanto, FL passed away May 15, 2018 at Life Care Center in Lecanto. She was born in Hoquiam, WA on April 5, 1921 to the late August J. and Mathilda (Jonsson) Martinson.

After raising her children in Vancouver, WA, Marty and her late husband Jack moved to Manila, Philippines where they lived for most of the next 30 years – interspersed with short, temporary stays in other Southeast Asian countries, Australia, and Italy during Jack’s career as a consultant to the worlds’ fisheries industry.

In 1995, they retired to Washington State where they lived until Jack’s death in 2002. Subsequently, she lived nearer her children in California and Florida. As part of her life’s experience, she was present for the birth of all four of her natural grandchildren – one in Australia, one in Thailand, one in Korea, and one in the USA a reflection of her dedication to both motherhood and grand-motherhood.

Marty was a dedicated homemaker, and arrived in this area in 2009, coming from Salinas, CA. She was a Protestant by faith, and loved reading, playing cribbage and card games, knitting, and watching golf on TV.

Marty was preceded in death by her loving husband, John A. “Jack” Maynard in 2002. She is survived by her children John S. “Steve” Maynard and his wife Olivia of San Diego, CA, and Linda Heath and her husband Bob of Hernando, FL.; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
