George “Ron” Goodwin, 81, Inverness passed away May 5, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Inverness. Ron was born in Birmingham, AL on April 2, 1937 to the late Melvin Thomas and Helen Joyce (Smith) Goodwin and came to Florida in 1977 from Del Rio, TX.
He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 21 years as a flight line inspector. Captain Ron enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR racing, country music, and football, especially Alabama, “Roll Tide”.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Dennis Goodwin and wife Melanie, Inverness; Gary Goodwin and wife Lisa, St Petersburg, FL; Connie Russell and husband Rich, Inverness; 2 step children, John Morgan and wife Jennifer, Beverly Hills, FL and Peggy Morgan, Boca Raton, FL; his brother and sisters: Leon Goodwin, June Coleman, and Joanne Morgan; loving partner, Cynthia Morgan of Inverness; 5 grandchildren: Brittany, Austin, Courtney, Ashley and Kristen; 1 great-grandchild, Emma, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 13 years, Nancy Kroll Goodwin in 1977; his daughter, Karen Goodwin in 1992, brother, Bud Goodwin, and 2 sisters, Shirley Millwood and Vivian Turquitt.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, May 11th at 1:00 PM followed by military honors at Florida National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday from 12 Noon until the hour of service. Cremation care under the direction of Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
