Terryl “Terry” La Casse, 69 of Chiefland, FL, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 in Land Harbor, NC. Terry was born on August 16, 1948 in Boca Raton, FL, to the late Clarence and Melba (Sistrunk) La Casse.

He came to Citrus County in 1981 from Pompano Beach, FL. He began his law enforcement career with the Pompano Beach Police Department in 1970 prior to joining the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office in 1981, where Terry attained the rank of Major. Following the election of then Sheriff Charlie Dean, to the state legislature, he was appointed Sheriff for a 3 month period. After retiring from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, he served as Under Sheriff in Clay County. Terry served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam war from 1966-1970. Terry received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from St. Leo’s College. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the “No Name” Hunting Club.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Sharon Howard and Tiffany Taylor and her husband, both of Ocala, FL; his brother, Mark La Casse of Brewer, Maine; sisters: Karen MacFeggan and his twin sister, Cheryl Collins, both of Chiefland, FL; 3 grandchildren: Dara Howard, Jared Howard and Ethan Taylor, and special friend, Mary Alice Mears. Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Alice on November 21, 2005 and his sister Lynn Blount.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM, from the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness, with Rev. Greg Kell, officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness on Tuesday, from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to
the Hospice of your choice.
