Anne Virginia Welcome, age 83, of Beverly Hills, FL, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Anne was born on July 2, 1934 in Brookline, MA, to the late John Joseph and Mary Theresa (McCarthy) Sullivan.
She was Membership Secretary at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society until she married and moved to Hudson, NH. In 1963, Anne married William F. Welcome, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage until his passing on July 1, 2007. She was a Crossing Guard at Memorial School in Hudson, NH, and worked at Memorial Hospital in Nashua, NH for a number of years.
In 2001, Anne and her husband made Citrus County, FL, their home after relocating from Hudson, NH. She was an avid reader and always kept up with the news and current events. Anne loved politics, enjoyed good conversation, and was extremely witty and enjoyed gaining knowledge and learning anything new. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Anne was very giving and generous to a fault. She always made time for her family and will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, friend and “Auntie Anne”. Anne will also be remembered for her famous phrase “Ya think you’re funny, your friends think you’re a jerk”!
Those left to mourn Anne’s passing are her daughters: Mary Anne Burton of Citrus Springs, FL, Kathleen Welcome and her husband Steven West of Hernando, FL; brother, John Sullivan of Sandwich, MA; sister, Mary Frances O’Grady of West Roxbury, MA; grandchildren: Alicia, Stephen, Kaitlyn, Laura, Alexandria, Shannon, Brigid; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband William, Anne was preceded in death by sisters: Agnes Sullivan and Julia (Sheila) Lydon.
Anne’s urn will be laid to rest with her husband William at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, at a later date. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
