Ben J. Means, 92, of Inverness, Florida passed away March 24, 2018 at Hospice of Citrus and The Nature Coast. Mr. Means was born in Osage County, MO on August 14, 1925 to the late Benjamin F. and Anna (Wolz) Means.
Ben and his wife of 67 years, moved to Florida in 1999 from Las Vegas, NV. He retired from the commercial mortgage business, having been the President of Fidelity Funding of Colorado for 13 years and was the co-founder of Cheyenne Mountain National Bank in Colorado Springs, CO. He also was a member of the Real Estate Appraisers of America.
Ben enjoyed watching baseball, day trading on his computer, and gaming in various casinos in Vegas. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Left to mourn his loss are three children, Steven Means and wife Susan of Phoenix, AZ; Terri Lee Means of Denver, CO; Mary Ann Sooner Means of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Gerald Means, Chamois, MO; nephews, Wayne Patterson, Larry, Barry and Cary Augustine and Bernard and David Means; nieces, Tarry Faries, Mary Gordon, and Cathy Cunningham and her husband Mike. Ben has 2 grandchildren, Jessica and Lyla and 4 great grandchildren, Jordon, Ramsey, Kaitlyn, and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Means on Aug. 21, 2014. They were married for 67 years. Additionally, he lost his sisters Evelyn, Mary Francis, and Geneva Augustine, and his brother Wesley.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Tim Cummings officiating. Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery where his wife, Joyce is resting. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
