Bob Martin Adkins, age 84, of Hernando, FL, passed away at his residence on February 2, 2018. Bob was born on February 4, 1933 in Clintwood, VA, to the late Willard and Clara Lee (Rose) Adkins. He was a member of the United States Navy and retired after 16 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer.
After his military service, Bob went on to become a heavy equipment mechanic. On November 26, 1968, he married Janet (Brooks) with whom he shared 49 years of loving marriage. Bob and Janet made Citrus County, FL, their home in 1998 after relocating from Powhatan, VA.
In addition to his wife Janet, those left to mourn Bob’s passing include his sons: Kenneth Adkins of Crystal River, FL, Bob Adkins, Jr. of Florida; daughters: Debra A. Landry of Ponte Vedra, FL, Patricia Melton of Powhatan, VA; sisters: Joanne Starns of Tennessee, Doris Deihl of Virginia; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by son, Gary Adkins; daughter, Judy Dixon; and sister, Charlene Guss.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family requests that donations be made in his memory to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
