David Francis Mason, 81, Inverness, FL passed away December 31, 2017 at Avante of Inverness. Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 1, 1936 to the late Francis and Elizabeth (Shortell) Mason, one of eleven children, he came to Inverness in 1993 from Ft. Lauderdale. While residing in Broward County, he was employed by Eastern Airlines for 20 years. After moving to Citrus County, he was employed by the Citrus County School System as a bus driver prior to his retirement. He served our country in the U.S. Army, was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, and the Inverness Golf & Country Club.
Left to cherish his memory are: his loving companion, Dolores Knox, Inverness, FL; 3 brothers, Richard Mason of Melbourne, Fl; Danny Mason of Pittsfield, MA; Alan Mason of Dalton, MA; 4 sisters, Ann Wagner, Kathy Bramer, and Elizabeth Mason, all of Dalton, MA; Sally Mason of Pittsfield, MA; stepson Kenneth Kitson, Inverness, FL ; 2 grandsons, David and Daniel White; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilian Mason in 1996, a daughter, Debra White; 2 brothers, Russell and Mike Mason and his sister, Mary Paladora.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2018, 4:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Tim Cummings officiating. Friends are invited to visit the family at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of service.
