Betty M. Rooks, age 74, of Inverness, FL, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 with her loving daughter by her side and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Betty was born on November 5, 1942 in Pahokee, FL to the late George and Nadine (Whitt) Summers. She was married to George D. Rooks for 43 years until his passing on September 26, 2011.

Betty relocated from Brooksville, FL to Citrus County several years ago and previously attended worship services at the First Baptist Church of Inverness. In her free time she enjoyed reading and was a fan of Elvis Presley She greatly enjoyed listening to his gospel recordings. Betty will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Those left to mourn Betty’s passing include her daughter, Donna Clark and her significant other, Ray Davidson of Inverness, FL; son, Troy Kirk II and his wife Nicole; stepdaughters: Teresa Obry of Baker, FL, Sherry Sanders of Crystal River, FL; grandchildren: Troy Kirk III, Tabitha C. Kirk, John Kirk, Jeanne Marie Schoenke; and great grandchild, Damien Kirk. In addition to her loving husband, Betty was preceded in death by brother, George Summers, Jr.; sisters: Frances Anderson and Shirley Simms; and son in law, Luther Junior Clark.

Private burial will take place for Betty at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, where she will be laid to rest with her husband George. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
