DONALD ALLEN POLLETTE, age 88 of Inverness, FL, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 23, 2017, in the company of his loving partner of five years, Anni Grammel. Mr. Pollette was born on November 7, 1928 in Providence, RI, to the late James and Laura Pollette.
He moved to Barrington, RI in 1954 where he raised a family with his wife Lillian Mary Pollette (Stafford). He relocated to Chicopee, MA in 1977. Mr. Pollette worked for U.S. Rubber (Uniroyal) for 32 years, then for Purolator Courier (Emery Worldwide) for 10 years, prior to moving to Inverness in 1991. He enjoyed many years of retirement in Inverness. He served for the U.S. Navy in 1946 and 1947 on the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Destroyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillian, September 6, 2006. Survivors include a daughter Gail and husband John Robinson of Lititz, PA; a son David and wife Sandra of Ware, MA; three grandchildren, Steven Robinson, and Elizabeth and Matthew Pollette; a sister Barbara Morrell of RI and a brother James Pollette of TX.
Mr. Pollette was an avid sportsman, enjoying golfing, sailing, bowling, softball and hockey. He also loved to play chess and bridge. While in Florida, he loved riding his scooter and being a dedicated Tampa Bay Lightning fan. He was a kind, gentle and humble man.
