David Hunsberger

David Hunsberger, age 63, of Floral City, FL passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 19, 2017. David was born on July 11, 1954 in Phoenixville, PA to the late Joseph M. and Verna H. (Landes) Hunsberger. He was so grateful for his Mennonite heritage. He was licensed to Pastor a Mennonite Church while in his 20’s, and served there for 5 1/2 years after spending 3 years in Belize under the Eastern Mennonite Mission board.

He made Citrus County his home 18 years ago after relocating from Miami, FL. In 1990. He started Lawncare-N-More of Citrus County and operated it until 2016 when he passed the business onto his son, David.

David loved music, playing guitar and singing with the New Glorybound Singers. He attended Istachatta Baptist Church, Istachatta, FL. David enjoyed teaching Sunday school and loved sharing the Word of God with others. He will be remembered as a teacher, worship leader, friend to all he met, a great father, loving grandfather and devoted husband.

Those left to mourn David’s passing include his wife of 2 1/2 years, Beverly (Wood) Hunsberger; son, David Hunsberger of Floral City, FL; daughters: Dawn Sefiane of Miami, FL, Melodie Porter (Joe) of Floral City, FL; stepdaughters: Lisa Caldwell (Zach) of South Carolina, Danielle Shepperson of Lansing, MI; brothers: Jim (Thelma), Joe (Rosie) and Dennis (Lori), all of Snyder County, PA; and grandchildren: Marymargaret, Noel, Maya, Destiny and Matthew.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE for David is planned for Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 South Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Burial will follow the service at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City, FL. In lieu of flowers, David requested donations be made in his memory to Istachatta Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall Renovation Fund, PO Box 24, Istachatta, FL 34636.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Istachatta Baptist Church​ on Sunday, August 27 at 6:00 PM. Everyone is invited to join us in sharing music and memories of David.

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
