Savannah Jean Simons, 31, Inverness, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg following a sudden illness. Savannah was born in Raceland, LA on November 12, 1985 to Glynn and Nancy (Lefever) Dupre. She resided in Plant City, FL before moving to Citrus County in 2013. She was an Exceptional Student Education Teacher at the Inverness Middle School and prior to that, at the Cypress Creek Juvenile Offender Correctional Center.

Savannah graduated from Durant High School in Plant City. Following graduation, she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree with a major in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology, from the University of Central Florida. Her love for crafting was only exceeded by her love for family and friends, which extended to her co-workers and students.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Barry James Simons of Inverness; her parents, Glynn and Nancy Dupre of Plant City; 1 brother, Jacob Paul Dupre of Chattanooga, TN; her aunts and uncles, David and Paula Shears, Ruskin, Fl; Earl and Ann Dupre and Abel and Judy Pontiff, both of Houma, LA; another uncle, Douglas Lefever, Ruskin, FL; her nephew, Ray Paul Dupre; her father in law and mother in law, Steven and Elaine Simons, Inverness, FL; 2 brothers in law and their spouses, Craig and Tonia Simons and Tim and Brittany Simons;

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, August 17th at 4:00 PM at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Kell officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at a later date in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted in Savannah’s memory by: Bubba the Love Sponge Foundation (btlsfoundation.org) The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family.
