Robert Lewis Greathouse, 86, of Hernando, FL passed away July 31, 2017 at Diamond Ridge Health & Rehab in Lecanto, FL. He was born in Clifton Forge, VA on September 6, 1930 to the late Herbert H. and Margaret Lucille (Kennison) Greathouse.

Robert served our country honorably during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam conflict, retiring as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy with 30 years of service. Afterward, he owned and operated Poogan’s Porch Restaurant for 25 years in Charleston, S.C.

He arrived in this area in 2004, coming from Charleston, and held memberships in the VFW Post #4252 in Hernando, FL, the American Legion Post #147 in Charleston, the Masons, Shriners, Elks and Moose Lodges.

He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Judith Greathouse of Hernando; his daughter Barbara J. Ball of Charleston; brother Larry Greathouse of Lilitz, PA; sisters Carol Arter of Heston, PA and Linda Moyers of Stuarts Draft, PA; 1 grandchild Bradley Ball of Charleston; and 1 great-grandchild Anaya Cicione. Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Houchen of Lilitz, PA.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Robert will be held in Charleston at a later date. Private cremation arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
