Joseph Robert Burns, 88, of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Homosassa, FL passed away July 28, 2017 under the care of Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, FL. He was born on March 31, 1929 in Central Falls, RI to the late Joseph and Virginia (Cardin) Burns.
Joseph was Catholic by faith, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict in the French Guiana. He was a Manufacturing Engineer by trade, and arrived in this area in 1993, coming from Cumberland, RI.
Joseph enjoyed traveling, having visited several countries including China and Europe. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie Burns in 2008, and one daughter, Carol A. Burns. He is survived by his son Joseph M. Burns and his wife Kenna of Altamont, NY; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 11:00 A.M. at Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa. Friends are encouraged to meet at the cemetery for the service. Cremation arrangements by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
