Richard “Doc” Gardener Woods, 84, of Ocala, FL passed away June 28, 2017 at The Legacy House Hospice in Ocala. He was born in Stamford, CT on May 20, 1933 to the late W. James and Irene E. (Bouton) Woods.
Richard was a Deputy Fire Marshall, and arrived in this area 24 years ago, coming from Stamford. He was a Catholic by faith, and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. When he was younger, he loved building small airplanes, and had attained his pilots license. Aviation was a big part of his passion.
Richard left no family survivors. He will be missed by his long time friend and co-fireman Anthony DeLuca. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
