Jerry Ray Schons, 74, of Inverness, FL passed away May 3, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. He was born in Kansas City, MO on October 30, 1942 and was a truck driver by trade.
Jerry was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and arrived in this area in 2008, coming from Gibsonton, FL. He was a Protestant by faith, and loved to spend time at the lake. Jerry also enjoyed boating, playing cards, and was very active in the VFW Post #8108 in Riverview, FL.
He and his loving wife, Clogene were together for 37 years when Jerry passed. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Roena Schons. He is survived by his wife Clogene; his father, Harry W. Schons, Sr of Inverness, FL; sons Sanford E. McKim, Jr. of Anniston, AL, Patrick E. McKim and his wife Cody of Oxford, AL, and Steven S. McKim and his wife Liza of Inverness; daughter Allison C. Griffith and her husband Rick of Tulsa, OK; brother Harry W. Schons, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Inverness; and sister Judy A. Perry of Liberty, MO; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jerry’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors on Friday, May 19, 11:00 A.M. Family and friends will be departing the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, at 10:00 A.M. to proceed in procession to the cemetery.
