Minnie A. Minnis, 86, of Floral City, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away April 11, 2017 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto, FL. She was born in Ross Township, PA on May 13, 1930 to the late Clifford L. and Augusta Luchretia (Thorpe) Gass.
Minnie arrived in this area from St. Petersburg in 1989, and was a member of the Floral City United Methodist Church. She also held memberships in both the St. Petersburg and Floral City Garden Clubs, and the Floral City Historical Society. She enjoyed flipping houses, and had a plant business in St. Petersburg focusing on staghorn ferns.
Above all, she loved her family and God very much and her sweet smile will truly be missed. Minnie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Buthyal L. “Bunk” Minnis, and a sister Dolores Bayer. She is survived by her children, Ernest A. Meyer and his wife Veronica of Floral City, Judith A. Sloane and her husband Tim of Claysville, PA, and Lucy A. Avila and her husband Robert of Dade City, FL.; brother Clifford L. Gass, Jr. of Evans City, PA; sisters Glenora Carr of West View, PA and Diane Kondrick of Gibsonia, PA; and 3 grandchildren, Ernie, Adam, and Sara.
The urns of Bunk and Minnie will be interred together at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with a graveside service scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, 2:30 P.M. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL is in charge of the arrangements.
